The project’s success was highlighted by the high level of student engagement in learning video recording and narrative writing, a pivotal aspect of their storytelling journey. Notably, the initiative’s broader impact was underscored by the significant financial support garnered for the robotics club, which received over $150K in donations following the media attention from the video premiere. This achievement was a testament to the power of compelling storytelling, as the videos played a crucial role in pitching to potential donors and effectively raised awareness of various programs within the Chicago Public Schools, thereby enhancing their visibility and support.
The Takeaway
Student Notorion - Southwest Side school
“Being able to tell my story and my friend’s story and the story of robotics,” says Natorion, a junior at the Southwest Side school, “I really do love how our story connects together. It shows how you can improve even if something bad is going on in your life, like Covid. You can still be positive about it.”
